Imagine learning that a couple hundred children in your community died last year because they didn’t have safe water to drink. Clean water is something us modern first-worlders take for granted. In much of the United States, restaurants are required by law to give a free glass of water to anyone who asks. In Zambia however, people have to walk miles to obtain such a simple product and there are only so many hours in a day. Oftentimes, Zambian parents are forced to choose between working for food or walking to get water. It’s a lose-lose decision and many of their children end up paying the price of drinking stagnant, pathogenic water.
